The client was looking to maximize the use of their new Kips Bay apartment by making the one bedroom into a cozy two bedroom. MGNY Architects opened up the kitchen to the living area, tying the two spaces together with a floating ceiling element above the counter, maintaining the flow of the apartment while adding another bedroom. A sliding door conceals the resting area while providing an aesthetic feature for the living room. All new floors, finishes, fixtures, appliances, and lighting were installed to complete the renovation.
